March Meet the Maker - Week 2

Neon Pink Lino ZebraWeek two of this challenge has been, well challenging!

When you are at your desk all day it is totally feasible to post one instagram post per day - but when you are chasing around setting up for fairs and fighting with the Royal Mail who have ballsed up another delivery, well it just means that instagram isn't top on the list!

But fear not, some exiting things happened anyway - not least this pink zebra which was a first attempt at some lino printing. He still needs his eyes and hooves, but I think he is pretty cool!

Day 8 #MarchMeetTheMaker @joannehawker

So I woke up with great intentions to make a great flat lay picture for you all. I'd thought about it at length.

But then I just had one of those days, and once I got to 6pm the last thing I felt like was going back out to the studio and monkeying around with stock.

And anyway, all my lino printing gear has been sticking it's tongue out at me... soooo, in the interest of stricking whilst the iron is hot, I cut out my zebra, cracked open my exciting neon paint and TAH DAH... he came out just fine, see above!

Day 9 of #MarchMeetTheMaker @joannehawker.

My favourite things to sell are items that I've been able to spend time with and put my stamp on.

Whether it is making things from scratch, or revamping traditional items with a bold bright twist.

Last summer I recovered this card table. I've got a couple more to do but it's too cold to spend the time outside in my shed!!

So bring on the warmer weather and I'll have more exciting projects to show you.

Ouch Relaxing

🐶🐶🐶 RELAXING 🐶🐶🐶

Day 10 #MarchMeetTheMaker
for @joannehawker

No relaxing for us today as we've got a show tomorrow! Come and find us alongside @lulukalakuttakaboodle and @shiborilondon at Hackwood Park @hampshirehuntp2p

#OuchDog is patiently watching me sew, which is relaxing for her!!

I'll catch up with the actual what do I do to relax another day. Promise!!

Well-- that promise wasn't kept, because I seem to have missed 11 & 12. Hmm.

Espadrilles as work clothes

👖👖👖WORK CLOTHES 👖👖👖

Day 13 of #MarchMeetTheMaker for @joannehawker

Because I work from home I tend to throw on whatever comes to hand. This often means pattern clashes and bold colours 💕

These jeans now have a major rip but they are over the back of my chair in my bathroom waiting for me to be clever enough to know how to repair trousers with stretch on my sewing machine. Any ideas folks?!

Also I can't wait for the weather to improve so I can move into my trusty @teixitsvicens espadrilles. I really put them through their paces so treat myself to a new pair each spring.

This blue pair were from 2016, last year was yellow ikat, and I can't wait to choose 2018 with @corinnaharrod in less than a months time!

Oh hang on, I caught up with 11:

Blue Bowl

🔷🔷🔷BRANDING 🔷🔷🔷

Day 11 (a bit late) of #MarchMeetTheMaker for @joannehawker

My logo was in my head before I even quit work. There were a few different iterations but I knew that I wanted it to look like a Chinese 'chop'.

These stamps have a few different meanings, from a makers signature on the back of a bowl to a rubber stamp that takes the place of a signature.

Essentially no business can be done with out them, and I love the idea that once I had my little logo I could go out and build my company. Nearly three years in and I still don't want to change it, in fact I feel so proud when my products go out with my branding.

My brother @drakefec gave me a BRILLIANT stamp of my logo, check out my stories to see it in action!

Neon name patches Blue Bowl

🗯️🗯️🗯️ DREAMS & PLANS🗯️🗯️🗯️

Day 14 of #MarchMeetTheMaker for @joannehawker

I have so many dreams and plans for Blue Bowl. I'm currently creating a stationery range that I hope you'll all love, and would like to design way more of my own products.

I'd like to travel the world finding amazing presents for you all.

I'd like to spend more time with my family and friends, but life gets busy and I'm worried that exciting things are rushing by while I have my head down building my business.

Basically I want it all, and sometimes that feels exhausting. But most of the time I feel incredibly lucky to be so hungry for life. Because life is an adventure and I want to enjoy every minute!

I found these patches in America on an adventure with my brother and cousin @pomlampson. What a fun time we had!

If any of you lucky enough to find one of your name and want one sewn onto one of the zip bags I'd love to make it happen!

So that was my week. Onwards and upwards, only one day missed!

x Florence
