These beautiful Japanese Hakaribasami leaf cutters have a simple inner spring action which makes them delightfully easy to use. They are designed for box clipping and topiary so it is important not to cut the old hard wood, only the soft new growth.
They are larger than a standard pair of handheld garden clippers, measuring over 10" with long 5" blades.
Please don't put them in your pocket as they are sharp - a complimentary handmade leather holster can be purchased here.
Here is a note from Jake Hobson, pruner extraordinaire, on using your clippers for the first time:
"The blades can clog, as resin from the plants builds up - this is ok, just use fine wire wool and oil to scrub them clean, and soon they'll be seasoned, like a new frying pan. For regular clipping, keep a bucket of water handy, mixed with a dash (5%, no more) of bleach. Dunk the clippers in every so often, and it stops the leaf resin from clogging up the blades. The bleach prevents the spreading of nasty viruses between plants"
Jake also says:
"These clippers are infinitely better than ordinary sheep shears, which are fine if you have the forearms of a Kiwi sheep farmer, but useless for the rest of us!"
So now you know, if you are into topiary, these guys are the real deal.
Don't forget - we can individually wrap each item - this item is a medium wrap!
